How to Print QR: Sizes, DPI, Materials

Sizes for Different Reading Distances

Minimum size depends on reading distance. For smartphones in hand — minimum 2×2 cm. For reading from 1 meter — minimum 10×10 cm. For outdoor advertising (2-3 meters) — minimum 50×50 cm.

DPI and Contrast for Printing

Use minimum 300 DPI (dots per inch) for printing. Higher resolution means better code quality. Ensure the printer correctly renders black and white without blurring.

Materials and Lamination

For durability, use lamination or special protective coatings. Avoid glossy surfaces — they can create glare. Matte materials are preferable.

Testing Prints

Test the first print with several scanners and from different angles. Ensure the code reads even in dim lighting. Check contrast.

Common Printing Mistakes

Too small size, insufficient contrast, blurred edges, lack of "quiet zone" around the code (minimum 4 modules). All this leads to scanning problems.
